Basketball action Tuesday night involved lots of area teams, high school and college.

In the Brownwood Coliseum, both Howard Payne teams lost last night.  In the ladies game Southwestern 61, Lady Jackets 54.  Men’s game Southwestern 76, Yellow Jackets 63.

High School Basketball

The Brownwood Lions lost to Dublin 103 to 58 in their first game of the year.  The Lions were a bit short handed with a half dozen of their players still playing football.

The Brownwood Lady Lions got their first victory of the young basketball season with a 57 to 31 win in Sweetwater.  The Lady Lions dropped 9 three point shots on the night.  The Lady Lions (1-2) will compete in the Hamilton tournament Thursday through Saturday.

In a county match-up, the Early Lady Horns defeated the May Lady Tigers 43 to 28.  The Lady Horns will next take part in the Bangs tournament Thursday through Saturday, while the Lady Tigers are set to host Newcastle at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Bangs Lady Dragons got a road win last night 34 to 27 over Grape Creek.

It was the Brookesmith Lady Mustangs 30, Zephyr Lady Bulldogs 29.

And, in the guy’s game, Brookesmith 27, Zephyr 22.
