Three killed in two-vehicle accident near Ballinger, including a Brownwood woman

According to a media release issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety Friday afternoon, Sarah Evelyn Brown, 48, of Brownwood, was one of three people killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 67, 10 miles east of Ballinger, Thursday morning.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2023 Kia Forte was traveling east on U.S. Highway 67, and a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on U.S. Highway 67. The Kia was attempting to pass another vehicle traveling east on a curve in the roadway and struck the Chevrolet head on.

Two of the three people in the Kia, 24-year-old Benjamin Nathaniel Sapp of Crowley and 25-year-old Jacob Alexander Gray of Lewisville, died. Lindsey Gale Perry-Gray, 22, of Lewisville, suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

H.O. Akin III, 51, of Comanche, was driving the Silverado in which Brown was the passenger and suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was treated and released at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.

All five people in the accident were wearing seat belts according to the DPS report.
