Herbie Strength, 71, of Coleman

Herbie Strength, age 71, of Coleman, died Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a time of visitation and reflection from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joseph Haynes and Rev. Randy Casey officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Herbie Conrad Strength on May 6, 1951, in Coleman to William James Strength and Louise Slayton Strength. He grew up in Cross Plains and Coleman. Herbie then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Herbie went to work in the oil fields. Herbie worked in the oil fields for over 30 years, retiring in 2011. After retirement, Herbie enjoyed fishing, tending to his plants and chickens, and was the gate keeper at the Coleman City Cemetery. His most cherished moments were spending time with his children and grandchildren. He absolutely loved to have children in his presence. We will miss Herbie, but if he were here, he would say “Come back when you have more time or more money!”

Preceding Herbie in death are his parents, William James “Bill” Strength and Louise Strength; one brother, Johnny Strength; one grandchild, Faith Serenity Fletcher; and his son-in-law, Edd Fletcher.

Herbie is survived by three children, Charity Diane Fletcher of Brownwood, Farrahh Louelle Chapman and husband David of Mico, and Stony Wade Strength and wife Kimberly of Coleman; his grandchildren, Daniel Haynes, Caitlyn Mair and husband Blaik, Trinity Fletcher, Brendan Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez, Rowdy Farris, Courtney Strength, Harlee Strength, Brayden Watts, Hailey Watts, and Paisley Watts; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ginger Walker and husband David of Brownwood and Betty Beal of Coleman; and two brothers, Delbert Strength of Talpa and Nathan Strength of Coleman.

Pallbearers will be Kemp Slayton, Daniel Haynes, Rowdy Farris, Mark Dela Rosa, Stoney Strength, and Josh Liebhaber. Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert Strength, Nathan Strength, and Johnny Strength.
