Tommie Lee Henderson Govan, 80, of Brownwood

Tommie Lee Henderson Govan, 80, of Brownwood, passed away at her home, Thursday, June 30, 2022.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 8th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Greater Faith Community Church.

The Funeral Service will be at the same location at 10:00am Saturday morning and burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Tommie was born in Brownwood, Texas May 16, 1942, to the late Tom and Gladys Henderson. She was the second to the oldest of eight children and received her education from the Brownwood Independent School District.

In 1961, Tommie married Melvin D. Fisher, Sr. in which one son, Melvin D. Fisher, Jr., was born.  Anyone that knew Tommie, knew that Jr. (aka June Bug) was the light of her life.  Her marriage to Melvin D. Fisher, Sr. ended in 1975.

Tommie met Samuel J. Govan and remarried March 22, 1978, and the two love birds were inseparable until his death in 2005.

Tommie enjoyed life!  She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, laugh and always wore a smile on her face!  She will always be remembered for her laugh, her genuine love and the way she made everyone feel loved and welcomed.  “To know her was to love her.”

Tommie accepted the Lord at a very early age and enjoyed spending time at church and assisting others when her help and encouragement was need.  She also enjoyed knitting and riding to the lake to catch a fish or two.

Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, two sisters, Pearlie Bryant-Robinson and Joyce Fay Baker, nephew, Thomas Bryant and a niece Rita Bryant.

Left to cherish her beloved memory are her beautiful granddaughters, Antonique McDonald (Eric) and Aschlee Fisher; three beautiful and vibrant great grandchildren, Alayah Davis, Za’rya Ramsey, and Jayden Suiters; one sister, Bernetta Aweda; four brothers, Willie Henderson, David Henderson, Chester Zollicoffer, and Bob Henderson (Glenda), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
