Kenneth Lee Peterson, age 72, of Mesquite, Texas passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas.  Kenneth was born August 23, 1949 in Brady, Texas to James Edward Peterson and Doris Rae (Poe) Peterson.  He grew up in Brady and San Angelo before moving to Mesquite, where he graduated from Mesquite High School.  He served in the US Marine Corps for 30 years, retiring as Gunnery Sergeant.  After retiring he worked for Delta Installations and Maurie Furniture for 18 years, retiring in 2010.  He enjoyed collecting guns, knives and everyday carry items.  He has lived in the Dallas area since 2010.

A memorial service for Kenneth Peterson will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 12, 2022 at the Connection Pointe Church, 2528 Oates Drive, Mesquite, Texas with Reverend Michael Pettitt officiating.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.  Friends may view and/or sign Kenneth’s online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.

Kenneth is survived by his son Ricky Dale Peterson of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Ali Jo (Peterson) Rennie and husband Ryan of Mesquite, Texas; brothers Gregory Edward Peterson of Mesquite, Texas, Calvin Franklin Peterson and wife Teresa of Gun Barrel City, Texas; sister Cindy Marie Denton and husband Darrin of Mesquite, Texas; uncles Mark Poe of Waxahachie, Texas and Jerry Poe of Waxahachie, Texas; aunt Faye Carpenter of Roswell, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother and son Kenneth Lee Peterson II.  Memorial contributions in memory of Kenneth Lee Peterson may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
