Joyce Berten, 85, of Rising Star, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Eastland Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones in Eastland, Texas.
The family will have a time of visitation on Monday, June 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains, Texas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ in Rising Star, Texas with Terry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rising Star Heritage Cemetery in Rising Star, Texas.
Joyce was born on May 18, 1937 in Haskel, Texas to the late Cecil Hardin Oden and Audine Estell Johnson-Oden. She married David Berten in August 8, 1953, who preceded her on September 8, 1998.
Joyce was preceded by her beloved husband of 45 years, David Berten; grandson, Jeff Yates; great-granddaughter, Christa Yates; parents, Cecil Hardin Oden and Audine Estell Johnson-Oden; 2 brothers, Sonny Oden; Jimmy Oden; 2 sisters, Katherine Gardner; Patricia Ramsey.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Patricia and husband, JR Bush of Rising Star, Texas; Caroline Yates of Rising Star, Texas; grandchildren, Christi and husband, Randy Johnson of Strawn, Texas; Lisa and husband, Ronald Wilkerson of De Leon, Texas; Chris Yates of Cross Plains, Texas; P.J. and wife, Telitha Bush of Cisco, Texas; great grandchildren, Rheagan Johnson and Colt Price; Cory Yates and Amber Wilson; Kaylee Yates; Shana and husband, James McMillian; Erik Sides; Heather Teplichek; Katie Goans; Zak Sides; Blake Johnson; Alexis Johnson; Kelsey Richard; Trask McGruder; and a very special great grandson, Jeffery Yates; great-great grandchildren, Jason Thompson; Braxton Teplichek; Lucas Garmon; Nyko Yates; sisters, Bobbie and husband, Wayne Gardner of Kingsland Texas; Carrol and husband, Joe Crowder of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister-in-law, Kathy Oden of Midland Texas.
