Several Brownwood High School (BHS) Photography and Audio/Visual (A/V) Production students recently passed their official Adobe Certification tests on software including Photoshop and Premier Pro.  “Adobe has certification tests in most of the programs they offer, and they are geared toward photographers, graphic designers, and video production professionals,” said BHS Photography teacher Heather Nix. “Our Photography program offers the Photoshop Certification for photography and graphic design students and the A/V program offers the Premiere Pro and After Effects Certifications.”

The students prepare for the test with a combination of classroom assignments, projects, video lessons, and practice tests. “The test itself is given on computers and has 30-35 questions,” explained Nix. “Students must complete the test in 50 or 60 minutes depending on the certification. Questions are either multiple choice or demonstration, which means the student has to perform a specific task within the exam. The test is graded on 1000 available points and students are required to get 700 points to pass. Our highest score this year was from Yadira Solis who earned a 903 on her Photoshop exam!”

This is just one of the various professional certifications BHS is proud to offer students to help them graduate with a head start in their chosen field, making them marketable, certified professionals right out of high school.

“Last year was the first year that the A/V and Photography departments offered the certification tests and we had six pass Photoshop and three pass Premiere Pro,” said Nix. “This year we had nine pass Photoshop and seven pass Premiere Pro. It is so exciting for our programs to be able to offer these certifications.”

Students who earned Adobe certifications include Julian Lares, Yadira Solis, Sam See, Albert Salazar, Arianna Quenomoen, Dillon Gatlin, Priscilla Mallone, Nathan Ramos, Phil Zorilla, Adalberto Aleman, Caleb Hines, and Rey Elizondo.
