The Brown County Elections Office reports that 225 early votes were cast on Friday for a total of 870 votes in the first week of early voting. Friday was the largest daily turnout of the week. (Monday 138, Tuesday 149, Wednesday 170, Thursday 188). Early voting will resume Monday, May 2 and conclude Tuesday, May 3. The early voting hours will be extended Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Elections Office, 613 N. Fisk.
Election Day is Saturday, May 7.
The following are the races taking place within Brown County, with a list of candidates:
- Brownwood Mayor: Incumbent Stephen Haynes, Patrick McLaughlin IV
- Early School Board Place 4: Incumbent Bobby Brinson, Andrew Castanuela.
- Bangs City Council (Three seats): Incumbent Marisa Craddock, Danny Marney, Waymond Sheppard, William Loyd, and Greg Parrott. (Anita Purcell, and Sheila Roberts not seeking re-election)
- Bangs School Board 3-year term (vote for up to two) Incumbent Eric Lykins, incumbent Dennis Sanchez and Sandra Lehman
- Bangs School Board Unexpired term (vote for one) Joshua Purcell, Jennifer Valdez McCoy, and Brooke Loyd. (Jerry Roberts is not seeking re-election)
- Brown County Water Improvement District #1 Board of Directors (vote up to two): Incumbent Bert Massey, Joe Stieber, Brad Simpson. (Ted Simpson is not seeking re-election).
- Brookesmith ISD $9.95 million bond vote (Bonds will used for various projects throughout the district, such as new HVAC equipment, campus renovations and improvements, acquisition of land and a possible football/track and athletic complex)
