Brownwood City Council Approves Petitioning Air Force for Static Display Aircraft

The Brownwood City Council on Tuesday, April 12, approved a request from the Central Texas Veteran’s Committee for the City to petition the Air Force for a static display aircraft at Memorial Park.

The Council heard from Harold Stieber and Dr. Stephen Kelly representing the veteran’s committee.  The CTVC believes the application will score higher if submitted by a government agency rather than a volunteer entity.

“We have $10,000 set aside right now, but we would be responsible for all costs,” said Dr. Kelly.

There is no guarantee of being issued an aircraft, nor an expected timeline.  The agreement is like the other existing static displays that the City maintains at the Airport and Memorial Park and will have the same maintenance and reporting requirements.
