Bettie Mae Copeland Bennett, 81 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Brownwood.
Her family will host a visitation from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, March 22nd at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 23rd at the Burkett Cemetery Pavilion in Burkett, Texas under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Bettie was born Saturday, September 14, 1940 in Burkett, Texas to Hester and Edith Copeland. She attended school in Burkett Schools in her early years, and then went on to graduate from Bangs High School. She was known for being the High School Basketball Star. Bettie married Benjamin Warren Bennett on July 4, 1961 and they began a life together that blessed them with 2 children. Bettie enjoyed being a navy wife and seeing the world with Benny. She was a loving wife for 51 years until Benny passed away in 2019. Bettie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed Nascar, dirt track racing, sewing, fishing and was an animal lover. Bettie enjoyed vacationing and exploring the national parks and sites. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Bettie was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Bettie is survived by her sons, David Bennett and wife Lorrie, Greg Bennett and wife Carla both of San Angelo, TX; brother Clenton Copeland of Bangs, TX; sister Cherri Tedford of Brownwood, TX; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Bennett; her parents; sister Wanda Jean Griffith and husband Joe; brother-in-law Johnny Tedford and sister-in-law Lila Copeland.
