Two members of the Brownwood Independent School District’s Technology Department were recently presented with the SRO Golden Safety Award. Jimmy Fisher (Network Administrator) and Barbara Huber (Network Services/Lead District Technician) were chosen to receive the honor.

“When problems were found in the Brownwood Middle School Public Address system and large projector, Fisher and Huber were contacted and immediately began troubleshooting,” explained School Resource Officer (SRO) Fred Bastardo. “The two areas, if not corrected, would have impacted the district’s Emergency Operations Plan. Both Fisher and Huber take school safety seriously and knew that the issues needed to be fixed immediately. They quickly began the process of correcting the problems with the equipment, with some of the changes already being utilized district-wide in support of the Emergency Operations Plan.”

The Golden Doughnut Safety Award is a roving award that is presented to BISD employees who have shown a commitment to school safety and security within the district.
