A house is a total loss following a fire early Saturday morning.
According to Chad Hill, Fire Chief for the City of Early, at 3:52 am Saturday, Early, Brownwood and Zephyr Fire Departments were dispatched to 651 FM 2126, a few miles south of Early.
Fire units arrived to find a two-story house with heavy fire coming from both floors. The only occupant at home at the time of the fire was able to make it out safely.
Fire units operated in a defensive fire attack the entire time due to significant fire conditions, according to Chief Hill.
Unfortunately, after several hours of fighting the fire, the house was a total loss.
The fire is currently under investigation by County Fire Marshal Buddy Preston.
Fire departments responding were Early, Brownwood and Zephyr along with Lifeguard EMS, Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Early Police Department.
A Brown County precinct provided a loader while the City of Early provided a backhoe.
