In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 1,024 positive COVID-19 test results.  This is compared to 560 reported last week.

Of the 1,024 positives this week, 801 were PCR, and 223 were antigen. Of the total number of cases reported this week, 301 cases met the breakthrough definition. This includes asymptomatic, mild symptoms, and severe symptom breakthrough cases.

There are 9 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.

Five new deaths have been reported this week: one male in his 50s, one female in her 60s, one female in her 70s, and two females in their 80s, with one from a nursing facility.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering COVID testing at their clinic located at 510 E. Lee Street. Testing is by appointment only. If you need to be tested for COVID, please do not walk into the clinic. Testing will be conducted at your vehicle in the parking lot. Due to the increased demand for testing, it may take a day or two to schedule an appointment with the Health Department. Other testing options are your local primary care physician, urgent care clinics, and pharmacies. Please be patient with us as we attempt to serve the high volume of calls and requests for service at this time.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccination boosters are also available.
