AUSTIN, Texas – The Howard Payne University men’s basketball team fell to conference opponent Concordia University Texas 113-75 Thursday evening.
The game was tied 25-25 with just over eight minutes left in the first half when Concordia went on a 14-0 run to take a demanding lead. Howard Payne trailed 53-34 at the halfway mark.
HPU committed 26 turnovers and was unable to overcome the halftime deficit dropping the road game 113-75.
Myles Brown led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points and two steals, followed by Matthew Hammonds with 14 points. Reese Ridder and Tyrell Thompson had eight rebounds.
Concordia was led by Donovan Stafford with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Howard Payne is now 3-10 overall and 2-6 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia Texas stands at 7-4 overall and 4-3 in league action. The Jackets will play next on Saturday at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. It will be a 3:00 pm start time.
