Brown County – 200 Positive COVID Cases Since Thursday

Brown County Commissioners met Tuesday morning and received an update on COVID-19 cases.  Lisa Dick, administrator of the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department told Commissioners that, since the last COVID-19 report issued on Thursday, December 30, 200 more positive COVID cases have been confirmed in Brown County.  She also reported six people currently hospitalized in Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood with the COVID virus.  “We need to be careful and mindful to try to prevent COVID,” Lisa said.  She also told Commissioners that, starting Monday, January 3, the Health Department Office is now open extended hours to facilitate more people coming in “for children’s vaccines, flu and COVID vaccines or any of the other services that the health department provides,” Lisa added.  The health department office is open from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm at 510 East Lee Street.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults age 18 years old or older. Vaccinations are available by appointment at the Health Department. Please call 325-646-0554 to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.
