Bill was born to William Clyde McNeal, Sr. and Georgia Mary (Farmer) McNeal on March 12, 1930, in High, Texas. He graduated from Carey High School in 1948 and attended Texas A&M University for one year before returning to Carey to help on the family farm. He served in the 31st Signal Company of the Army in Fort Jackson, South Carolina during 1951.

On September 11, 1952, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Marie Voyles, in a Carey church built by her father, and they shared 67 years of devoted marriage together.

Bill spent most of his career in the insurance industry, working for various companies from 1958 to 1990. In 1990, he went to work for the department of Public Safety and retired from there in 2003. He was a steadfast servant of God and loved to teach Sunday School, visit the ill and share God’s word with all who would listen. He served as a faithful deacon and was elected Deacon Emeritus in February 2020.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Center in Brownwood where he was an avid bingo player. He and Dorothy were regular volunteers at Good Samaritan Ministries. After moving to Redstone Park in 2019, he continued his love of bingo, music and singing, and making new friends.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Wanda McNeal Murphy of Fort Worth; son, Grover McNeal and wife Susan of Providence Village; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy; a son, Danny McNeal; parents, William Clyde and Georgia McNeal; brother, Grover McNeal; daughter-in-law, Val McNeal; and granddaughter, Catherine McNeal.

The family wishes to thank the staff and care givers at Redstone Park, Hill Country Home Care and Alpha Omega Hospice for their care during Bill’s final years.
