Randa was born on December 11, 1950, to Robert and Erma Lee (Keeney) Cole in Brownwood. She grew up attending 1st through 10th grade at Regan County ISD in Big Lake. Her family moved to Deer Park her junior year of high school where she would graduate from Deer Park High School in 1969. In 1977, Randa and Reggie started Ora-Craft Dental Labs in Brownwood and shortly after moved their business to a mountainside near Hot Springs, Arkansas for 30 years.

Randa married the love of her life, Reggie Atha, on March 3, 1979, in Ft. Worth. The two moved back to Texas in 2006 to care for their ailing parents. Throughout her life she loved living life to the fullest, whether it was scuba diving, spear fishing, hunting in Colorado, riding horses, and traveling. After retiring, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking, and making stained glass.
