BROWNWOOD – As was the case a year ago, the Brownwood Lions find themselves in the two-game stretch of their District 5-4A Division I schedule that will likely determine whether a postseason berth is on the horizon.

Following losses of 43-25 to Midlothian Heritage and 49-33 to Waco La Vega, the Lions (2-5, 0-2) visit the Alvarado Indians (2-5, 1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday needing to win two of the last three games to reach the playoffs for the 13th year in a row. A visit from Waxahachie Life (1-6, 0-2) comes next week, while the regular season finale is at No. 2 Stephenville (7-0, 2-0).

EARLY -After their best start in 45 years to open the season, the Early Longhorns suddenly find themselves in need of a critical victory three games into the District 3-3A Division I slate as they visit the Clyde Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Friday.

A third straight loss for Early (5-2, 0-2) would seriously hinder the Longhorns’ chances of reaching the playoffs for a second straight season, while a victory over Clyde (1-6, 1-1) would likely clear the path to another postseason berth.
