Donald E. Lanning of Brownwood, Tx left this earth and walked into the presence of his Lord and Savior on October 11, 2021, at the age of 90.

Born to Charles and Luella Lanning in Spencer, NY on January 29, 1931. He had 3 brothers and 1 sister. He worked on the family farm until he married Lila E. Koski on January 27, 1951 and was drafted into the Army 2 days later on his 20th birthday. He served proudly for 20 years. They had 2 daughters Andrea Jean in 1952 and Catherine Christine in 1962. Upon his retirement in 1972 the family settled in El paso, Tx. He continued to work in his field of electronics until his second retirement in 1998.  Don and Lila chose Brownwood, Tx as their home where they loved to fish, canoe, and feed the deer, racoons, and squirrels at Lake Brownwood. Don loved to dabble in wood working in his shop and volunteered at Good Samaritan Ministries a few days a week.  He shared 64 years of marriage with Lila who predeceased him in 2015.

Don stayed active in the community and was blessed with the love of Shirley Davidson.  They shared a passion for gardening, listening to country gospel music and Shirley’s homemade yeast rolls.  They loved to sit on the porch and chat while enjoying their beautiful flower garden.

Even though a failing heart took him from this earth, his loving heart left a beacon of light for us all.

Don’s wishes were to be cremated and no services to be held.

Don will be loved and missed by Shirley Davidson; Andrea and Harry Mills; Catherine and Jim Schure;

Nathan and Jamie Lea; Amy and Terry Whitley; as well as all other family and friends who knew him.

We will be forever grateful to the angels of Interim Hospice.

As a family, we ask that each of you love your families and treasure the time you have with them.

It will never be enough.
