Howard Payne University’s School of Music and Fine Arts will perform the musical “Cinderella” at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, in Mims Auditorium as part of Stinger Spectacular. Performances will also be held the following weekend at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 9, in Mims Auditorium.

Adapted for the stage by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy for the Prince Street Players, Ltd., the musical offers a humorous take on the beloved story by Charles Perrault. The adaptation expands the role of the Fairy Godmother in a fresh look at the familiar story.

“‘Whimsical and charming’ are the key words for this hilarious spin on this classic fairy tale,” said Dr. Nicholas Ewen, associate professor of theatre at HPU. “Truly suited for all ages, it is a delight for adults and kids alike.”

Performances will run approximately an hour and 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children. Tickets can be purchased at the event.
