William Earl Jones was born May 28, 1942, one of six children born to Alice Cornelius and Fred Gottlieb Jones.  He was a lifelong resident of Coleman County and a graduate of Mozelle High School.  On August 24, 1960, he married Joan Allen and the couple was blessed with two daughters, Juliann and Jeanene.

As a young man, Willy worked for a well-servicing crew based in Coleman County and was also engaged in farming and ranching.  He began working in construction under the tutelage of Clint Tomlinson, a skilled carpenter and friend.  William Earl, along with his brothers Jerry and Rodney, established a successful construction business.  Each brother had his own special skill, and the result was well-built homes and satisfied customers.

Willy loved sports.  He was a successful high school athlete,  and he was an avid fan of anything athletic.  He was a member of Leady Baptist Church which he attended faithfully until failing health kept him home.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice Jones; three sisters, Frances Jones Richardson, Freda Jones Stephenson and Jeanene Jones.  He also mourned the loss of his brother, Rodney Jones.

Willy is survived by his wife, Joan Allen Jones; two daughters, Juliann Page and husband John and Jeanene Jones Pricer.  Willy had two grandchildren, Vanessa Page Croft and husband Cody and Allen Bailey Pricer.  Willy was proud of his two great-grandsons, Ethan James Croft and Bradlee Joe Croft.  Also surviving Willy is his brother, Jerry Jones and wife Liz; sister-in-law, Bobbie Jones, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Willy was a devoted family man.  He never missed an event that involved his wife, his daughters, his grandchildren or great-grandchildren.  He was of that generation of men who knew how to work and how to get things done.  If you needed help, Willy was the man to call.  He will be sorely missed by his family and a host of friends.

Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Jones family.
