An Abilene man died in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday, August 17, at 7:50 pm on Highway 36, four miles west of Denton Valley.
According to the preliminary accident report from the Department of Public Safety, James Edward Johnson, 78, of Abilene was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was taken to Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A 2011 Ford Pickup, driven by Robert Brandon King, 56, of Clyde was traveling East on Highway 36. A 2004 Chevrolet Pickup, driven by Johnson, was traveling toward the West. The Ford lost traction, went into a spin, and was struck on the left side by the Chevrolet which caught fire and was burned.
It was raining at the time of the crash which remains under investigation, according to the DPS report.
