After 15 months of being closed due to COVID-19, the Brownwood Senior Citizens Center reopened Monday morning, July 12, and it didn’t take long for area residents to walk in the doors.
“They were here at 7:30 this morning so they could come in at 8 o’clock,” said Angie Dees, director of the Senior Center.
Several changes took place inside the center during the months they were closed to the public.
“Oh my gosh, so much has changed. We took the time that we were closed and we repainted the whole entire building. Everything has been painted from top to bottom,” Dees said.
The walls now look back on Brown County history.
“We removed all of the old art-work that was here and we replaced it with pictures of Brown County, something that means something to them. Someone’s already found their grandfather in a picture. The whole building is just covered with different pictures,” Dees said.
There are new tables, new décor, new frozen drink machine, hot cappuccino machine and salad bar are among the new additions.
“We’ve done a lot of changing. They’re walking back into a brand new building,” Dees said.
The Brownwood Senior Citizens Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.
