Bull Snake Blamed for Power Outage in Bangs

The holiday weekend isn’t much fun without electricity, just ask folks around Bangs.

An electrical outage is affecting the community of Bangs and others in the surrounding area. As of 8:15 am Sunday, the Oncor outage map showed 1,642 customers affected. Estimated restoration time is 12:00 pm today, Sunday, July 4.

According to Facebook posts from the City of Bangs, the power is out at the substation north of the elementary school. At 4:10 am, another Facebook post from the City of Bangs provided more information.

UPDATE: It is 4:10 a.m. Oncor employees explained that a six-foot bull snake (going to simplify this–too much info) got into a regulator, which fried several components. They are working to procure a new regulator now. Unfortunately, I was told this will last all night into later today and possibly even longer if the part has to be retrieved from the Metroplex. That is worst case scenario if the regulator is not available in Comanche.
