Lydia Nations Hanson, age 97, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 6 to 8:00 pm at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

She was born on Sunday, May 6, 1923 to Marvin and Mary Nations in San Angelo, Texas on the then Emmitt Noelke Ranch located on the North Concho River Northwest of San Angelo at the spot where the O.C. Fisher is now located. She did not have a name per se, until she was 14 days old, so her grandfather named her Sally, he and her dad called her Sally until the day they died. Finally, she was 14 days old when her mother decided she would be called Lydia Alena. When she was too young to remember they moved to Brown County.  She attended school in Grosvenor, Texas.  After high school Lydia went on to attend San Angelo Business College earning an Associate Degree in Business.  Lydia went to work for Glenda and Joy Bookkeeping, and also worked for Brownwood ISD as a bookkeeper.  She retired from owning her own bookkeeping business.  Lydia was a member of Lake Brownwood Church of Christ.

Lydia is survived by her husband, Leonard Wayne Hanson of Brownwood; sons, Bill Parsons of Abilene and Clint Parsons of Menard; daughter Betty Rayburn and husband Herman of Menard; grandson Daniel Hanson and wife Katie of Abilene; granddaughter Mary Hanson and husband Brad of Comanche; 4 sisters, Ruby, Laura, Linnie and Carmaleta; numerous grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her first husband’ son Brandon Parsons; daughter Tina Brown; parents and 7 siblings.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Solaris Hospice.
