As cool as this weekend has been, it’s going to get even colder this coming Tuesday into Wednesday. According to KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner, Brown County can expect a strong cold front to blow through Tuesday morning, April 20.
“The current timing projects the front to arrive before noon Tuesday. Temperatures in advance of the front should be around 60 but be near 50 for the rest of the day, possibly 40’s. Wind will be northerly at 20 to 30 mph. If you have plants that are sensitive to the cold, you really need to start thinking about protecting them Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Temperatures are currently projected to drop to the middle 30’s in Brown County but, up in Abilene, a freeze is possible. It’s going to be a close call,” Turner said. Stay tuned to KOXE video weather updates Monday and Tuesday as the cold approaches. Freeze watches have already been issued (as shown on the map) in the Panhandle and Red River counties.
“While we’re talking weather for the upcoming week, I’ve put rain the forecast Thursday through Saturday. Chances look good as of now. I’ll fine-tune the forecast as the week progresses,” Turner said.
