Oman Travis Sanders, age 93, of Coleman, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his residence.

A graveside funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Burkett Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Aaron Mitchell, pastor of Concho Baptist Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burkett Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Travis was born July 28, 1927 in Knox County, Texas to Andrew Jackson Sanders and Sally Edna Alexander Sanders.  He grew up in Haskell County and attended school at Lone Star and Winert.  Travis joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II.  He married Wilma Jean Strickland on August 23, 1948 in Winert.  Travis and Wilma relocated to Coleman where they owned and operated Sanders Furniture Company.  Travis loved his family and friends.  He loved to fish and tell all kinds of stories.  He was a member and deacon of the Concho Baptist Church.

Travis is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Travis Sanders; his daughter, Wilma Yvonne Key; his brother, Jacky Sanders; and five sisters, Lona Mae Phelps, Ethelene Slade, Sue Cox, Martha Maupin, and Scarlett Cole; a great-granddaughter, Makenna Ellis; and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Sanders of Coleman; his son, Darrell Sanders of Coleman; his grandchildren, Karmen Ellis, Jeff Key, Brian Sanders, Leigh Oxford, Texas Marie Sanders, and Phoenix Quinn Sanders; his great-grandchildren, Alexis Cohen, Lanye Ellis, Cullen Ellis, Makayla Key, Noah Key, Abbi McNutt, Avery Sanders, Audrey Sanders, Michael Ann Sanders, and Charlie Sanders; his brothers, Rocky Sanders and Andy Sanders; and his sister, Marie Kirkland.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Travis to the Concho Baptist Church, 1700 S. Concho Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
