Record Cold Breaks Area Weather Record

The San Angelo National Weather Service issued the following weather statement Thursday morning concerning record cold consecutive days.

RECORD COLD CONSECUTIVE DAYS AT ABILENE BROKEN WEDNESDAY

ON FEBRUARY 17, 2021, ABILENE SET A NEW RECORD OF EIGHT CONSECUTIVE
DAYS OF TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES FROM FEBRUARY 10 TO
FEBRUARY 17, 2021.

PREVIOUS RECORDS OF SIX DAYS WERE SET ON JANUARY 4, 1947, DECEMBER 25, 1983 AND FEBRUARY 16, 1895.  ABILENE WILL LIKELY REACH NINE CONSECUTIVE DAYS AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES TODAY.

SAN ANGELO TIED A PREVIOUS SIX DAY CONSECUTIVE STRETCH OF TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES EARLIER THIS WEEK ON
FEBRUARY 15, 2021.

THEY WERE BELOW 32 DEGREES FROM FEBRUARY 10 TO FEBRUARY 15, 2021. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS SET ON JANUARY 5, 1947.

We hope to have more information about Brownwood record temperatures as soon as possible.  We’ve reached out to the National Weather Service for that information.
