After Two Days, Most Coleman Residents Have Electricity Again

Most residents in the city of Coleman had been without electricity for two days, until late last night.

Tuesday night at 9:15 pm, the City of Coleman put out a statement on social media saying repairs had been made and they were ready to flip the switch, but couldn’t.

Once the city received approval from AEP to have limited power turned on, AEP said that ERCOT then turned them down.  City officials said one group told them that ERCOT was to blame. The next group said that AEP was to blame.

That negative information spread through local media and social media like wildfire.

Two hours later, the City of Coleman released a statement saying:

The City has been successful in convincing the right people to apply pressure in the right places. Power has been restored to almost ALL of Coleman.

The statement concluded by saying:

We are grateful to State Rep Dr. Glenn Rogers, Senator Charles Perry and Governor Greg Abbott for all their help. Without them we would all still be in the dark.

Work was being done late Tuesday night to connect a small portion of town where power was interrupted because of a damaged switch at an AEP substation.
