According to information from the Brownwood Police Department, on Friday, February 12, 2021, at approximately 6:20 am officers were dispatched to the WashBrite Laundry in the 1300 block of Coggin Ave regarding a suspicious vehicle.
When Officer Peyton Donahoo arrived and attempted to make contact with the unconscious driver, Donahoo was able to wake the driver and identified him as Kolton Reeves, 23, of Early. Reeves was asked to exit the vehicle and when he did, a box fell from his lap to the ground. The box contained several “individual popsicle-style packages filled with Vodka.”
Due to the findings at the scene, Reeves was checked for possible intoxication. While doing so, Reeves also provided consent to search his vehicle. Inside the driver’s side door pocket, a clear baggy containing pills were identified by Reeves. Reeves also admitted to not having a prescription for the pills. He was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug.
In the course of inventorying Reeves’ vehicle, a large amount of power tools was discovered and inventoried. Several of these tools were reported stolen within a couple days of this encounter. Based on this discovery, Reeves was also charged by warrant with Burglary of a Vehicle and Burglary of a Building.
According to Brown County Jail online records, his bonds total $48,500.
Those charged are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
