LIONS
The Brownwood Lions notched their second soccer victory of the season Friday, ending a four-game drought with a 1-0 road victory over the Springtown Porcupines.
Brownwood (2-8) logged the game’s only goal as Tony Valenciano found the back of the net with 20 minutes left in the second half. The Lions conclude pre-district action at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5 when they host San Angelo Lake View.
LADY LIONS
The Brownwood Lady Lions soccer team remained undefeated at Gordon Wood Stadium as it wrapped up pre-district action with a 2-0 victory over Class 5A Abilene Cooper Friday.
The Lady Lions (6-2) are now 4-0 in home games under first-year head coach Alexis Mosqueda, outscoring their foes 21-0. Molly Oliver and Ataleigh Constancio recorded goals for the Lady Lions. They resume action at 5:15 Friday, Feb. 12 when they host Graham in the District 4-4A opener.
