Kara Margaret Dixon, 57, of Brownwood passed away Friday, January 22, 2021.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Ellis John Villareal of Milton Avenue Baptist Church.

Kara was born May 29, 1963 in Georgetown, Texas to Harold and Barbara Dixon. She attended school in Brownwood and worked a large part of her life at Section Hand Steakhouse. Kara’s job at Section Hand was not only her livelihood but the owners, the staff and her customers were her second family. Kara’s favorite pastimes were crafts, wind therapy and river floating. She sat amazed at the beach in awe of God’s beauty and creation. She especially loved the beach destination taken on the Little Women’s Cruise. Being a hippie at heart, Kara loved peace signs, Pegasus and unicorns even though her favorite color was black. Kara’s heart belonged to her grandkids and she was always so proud of them.

Kara is survived by her children, April Pittman of Amarillo, Mark Lynch Jr. and fiance’, Kristin Byrum of Amarillo, Meghan Gray and fiance’ Michael Smith of Brownwood and Michael Gray and girlfriend, Lexi Burfield of Brownwood; step son, Trey Drake of Brownwood; father, Harold L. Dixon of Brownwood; sisters, Lorie Dixon of Brownwood and Laura Wilson and husband J. Wilson of Goldthwaite; brother, Jeff Dollahite and wife Julie of Denton; 12 grandchildren & bonus grandchildren collectively and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Kara was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Dixon; grandparents, J.W. & Margaret Dixon and Clois & Cora Pierce; uncle Wayland and aunt Cookie Dixon.
The family wants to attribute a special thank you to the ladies at Solaris Hospice for the special care of Kara and to everyone for the support, prayers & care packages during her journey.
