Winter Storm Warning in KOXE Listening Area

Old Man Winter is going to make sure 2020 ends and 2021 begins with rain, sleet, snow and freezing rain.  Brown County along with Coleman, Callahan, McCulloch, San Saba, Eastland, Concho, Runnels and Taylor counties are under a WINTER STORM WARNING until 6:00 am Friday.  That means 3 to 6 inches of snow will be possible in the counties listed but ice may also accumulate.

As of 5:00 am Thursday, heavy rain was falling in downtown Brownwood at KOXE/KBWD and it was lightning.  As of 5:00 am, we had measured .51 of an inch of rain.  The temperature at Brownwood Regional Airport was 32 while here at KOXE it was 34 as of 5:00 am.  At some point this morning precipitation will change to a mixture of rain and sleet followed by snow.

Roads will likely become hazardous with ice and snow during the day today.  Travel is discouraged across all of West and Central Texas today and tonight.  Temperatures will warm back above freezing by about 10:00 am Friday.  The high Friday is forecast to be between 35 and 40.
