The female occupant of a mobile home escaped a burning mobile home and called the Brownwood fire department Monday morning shortly after 9 o’clock.

Several units from the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at 3310 Stephen F. Austin, part of the Yellow Rose Estates Mobile Home Park.

According to James LeMond, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Prevention Investigation, the mobil home was heavily damaged.

“Looks like we had a fire in the bedroom, everybody got out, the guys (firemen) got here real quick,” said LeMond.  Brownwood Fire Station Two is a short distance down the street.

“We’ve got to go back in, do a little more investigating to find out what the cause is but, as far as we know right now, it was a fire in the bedroom,” LeMond said.

The Early Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department and Lifeguard EMS were also on the scene.
