Bertha May Barker, 81 of Mills County passed away at her home on the family ranch near Mullin, Sunday, November 15, 2020. The family will hold a private graveside service at the San Saba Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

Bertha was born December 10, 1938 to Velma and Henry Crouch in Morton, Washington.

The family moved to Pasadena, Texas in the 1950’s.  Bertha graduated from Pasadena High School in 1957, and then went on to graduate from San Jacinto College.  Bertha was baptized into Christ in 1958 at the Shaw Street Church of Christ in Pasadena.  Bertha married the love of her life and best friend, Benton (Ben) Barker on August 7, 1959, and they began a life together that blessed them with a son, Keith Benton Barker.  Bertha retired as a paralegal from the law firm of Fulbright and Jaworski in 1999, she and Ben then moved to the ranch, where she enjoyed her garden, her painting and working with the cattle.  Bertha and Ben attended the Church of Christ in Goldthwaite.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Benton (Ben) Barker; son Keith Benton Barker and wife Rochelle; grandsons, Kody Benton Barker and wife Whitney and Colton Barker; great grandchildren, Wyatt Benton Barker, Lovelynn Barker and Rochelle’s sons Michael and Jordon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Lajuana Savell.
