Rogelio Perez, age 81, of Bangs passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at home surrounded in love with his family.
Funeral Services for Rogelio will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Francis Njoku officiating; burial will follow at Bangs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. with Rosary to start at 6 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Rogelio was born on March 4, 1939, to Gilberto Sr. and Zoila (Dehoyos) Perez in Melvin, Texas. He married the love of his life, Minerva Castanuela Perez, on February 20, 1960 in Melvin; they shared 57 years together before her passing in July of 2017.
He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rogelio retired from UPS after 26 years. He loved watching his kids play sports when they were young. Once they had children, he enjoyed watching and cheering on his grandchildren in their sporting events. Most of all, he loved and adored his family.
Rogelio is survived by his children, Grace Perez of Bangs, Roger Perez and wife Dana of Arlington, Joe Paul Perez of Springtown, Mark Anthony Perez of Arlington, Adam Perez and wife Mary of Brownwood, Angie Powell and husband Wes of Bangs; 16 grandchildren, Monica, Tyler, Zoe, Amy, Rachel, Roger III, Gracie, Selena, Alex, Tristian, Vanessa, Marissa, Gabe, Kolby, Sally, and Jonas; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Rebecca Salzetti of Lomita, CA and Olga Sandoval of Manor; and 1 brother, Ruben Perez and wife Ofelia of Arlington. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva Perez; daughter, Sally Mathews; son, Mike Perez; parents, Gilberto Sr. and Zoila; sister, Teresa Flores; and 2 brothers, Art Perez and Gilberto Perez Jr.
