The Brownwood School District reports that the first day of school yesterday was an overwhelming success.

A total of 3,420 students attended the first day of class.   Of that total, 2,800 (82%) attended in person on a school campus.

A total of 620 (18%) chose to attend school via remote instruction.

The school district asks for patience in the first few days as they get classes leveled, lunches aligned, traffic adjusted and routines established.

In addition, the BISD is notifying all families and staff that a student, who was lab-confirmed to have COVID-19, was present on the campus of Brownwood High School on Tuesday, August 18.

According to BISD, the local Health Department has already contacted all individuals who came in close contact with the individual and the school district has completed the disinfection of all areas heavily used by the individual with the lab-confirmed case.
