The polls have closed and the votes have been counted. Area voters have spoken and after a contentious season of verbal battles between supporters and those who opposed, the Ranger College Tax Annexation failed not only in Brown County, but in Erath and Comanche Counties as well.
In Brown County, 169 voted in favor of the annexation, while 5,912 voted against. In Erath County, 229 were for the annexation, while 5,787 voted against and in Comanche County, 56 voted in favor, while 2,979 voted against. That makes the totals 454 in favor of the annexation and 14,678 against.
Through a release, Dr. Bill Campion, president of Ranger College said the college accepts the voters’ wishes and that the institution appreciates it supporters. He also said the school looks forward to a cordial relationship with everyone throughout their service areas. Also on the ballot were seven constitutional amendments. Statewide numbers will be available Wednesday.
