
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary “Darwin” Jacobs. A devoted family man and a man of unwavering faith and love, who left this world on March 29 at the age of 84.
Darwin was born May 31st, 1940, to Wesley and Irene Jacobs. He lived a life of kindness, generosity, and a profound dedication to his family and God. He was a loving husband to Barbara, a cherished father to Markus Darwin Jacobs and adopted son Scotty Glynn Jacobs. Darwin gave him the most precious thing he had, his last name. He was a doting grandfather to Kristian Bruns and Wesley Jacobs and an exceptional great-grandfather to Skylar Stanke. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in every milestone they achieved and every moment they shared.
Darwin’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He found strength and solace in his beliefs and was known for his compassion and willingness to help others. His unwavering faith in God was evident in everything he did. His positive spirit and optimistic outlook inspired many, reminding them of the importance of love, charity, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
In addition to his role as a family man, Darwin was passionate about flying, golfing, and barbequing. He was always ready to fire up the grill with anyone; you just probably weren’t going to eat until midnight. His laughter and warmth could light up any room, and his stories will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Darwin leaves behind to cherish his memories of a life well-lived wife of 61 years, Barbara (Fenton) Jacobs; son, Scotty Jacobs; grandchildren, Kristian (Jacobs) Bruns and wife Vanessa, Wesley Jacobs; great-grandson, Skylar Stanke; brother, Jay and wife Carol Jacobs; sister, Brenda and husband Harry Hagedorn; great-grandson, Skylar Stanke; Daughter-in-law, Janelle (McFadden) Jacobs; extended family, Shala Flock. Along with extended family members who will carry his spirit in their hearts forever.
Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley G. Jacobs and Irene (Burleson) Jacobs; sons, Fenton Jacobs and Markus D. Jacobs; grandson, Michael G. Jacobs; brothers, Alvin Jacobs, Royce and wife Cumi Jacobs; and niece Jayleen Jacobs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025, at Blaylock Funeral Home from 12:00-1:30 pm, followed by a graveside service at Eastlawn Memorial Park at 2:00 pm, where all are welcome to come together to honor a remarkable man who exemplified love and faith.
Rest in peace, Pop. Your legacy of love and faith will live on through all of us until we see you again.
