
Msgt. James Edward Cook, USMC (Ret.), age 65, of Menard, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. James, or Jim as he was known by most, was born on June 15, 1959, in Lufkin, Texas to Albert H. “Joe” Cook and Remona (Erwin) Cook. He grew up around Corpus Christi and enjoyed the rodeo, especially bull riding and bronc busting. He was a 1978 high school graduate. After graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved the military and made a career with the Marine Corps, retiring in 2008. He was proud of his service and was always ready to promote the military. He was a good-hearted man, a very giving person and enjoyed pranks. He owned and operated RW Residential RV Park in Menard for several years. He married Patricia Heyman Brown in Menard. He attended the Grace Lutheran Church in Menard.
Funeral services for Msgt. James Edward Cook, USMC (Ret), will be held at 2:00pm, March 15, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Menard with Reverend Dr. Tim Rosenthal officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church. Msgt. James Edward Cook is survived by his brothers Jimmy Cook and wife Tiny of Wichita Falls, Texas and Travis Eugene Cook of Menard, Texas, and nephew Jimmy “J.J.” Cook and wife Christi of Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
