One-vehicle accident on Bangs Hill results in driver being air lifted

The Texas Department of Public Safety shared the following information Wednesday afternoon:

On Wednesday at approximately 12:45 p.m., a 2005 Nissan Sentra passenger car was traveling west on US 67 near Beck Rd. The driver, Janae Barron, of Bangs, steered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled up a steep embankment and collided with a tree. Barron was not wearing a seatbelt. An open container of alcohol was located inside the car, and Barron is suspected to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash. Barron sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported via Air Evac from Hendrick Medical Center-Brownwood to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. This crash is under further investigation.
