May marches into third round after 59-33 area victory over Avalon

CHINA SPRING – The TABC Class A No. 22 May Tigers secured an area championship Friday night with a 59-33 victory over the Avalon Eagles.

May jumped out to a 19-9 lead after one quarter that stood at 27-11 at halftime and 53-16 through three periods.

The Tigers received 16 points apiece from Brody Stice and Kobey Morris, 15 from Ben Harrell, six from Jackson Lusk, fou from Tyran Perry and two points from Kaden Watkins.

Kade Johnson scored a team-high 11 points for Avalon (21-5).

May (31-3) advances to face Perrin-Whitt (30-5) – an 87-48 second-round winner over Union Hill – in the regional semifinals Tuesday at Stephenville High School at a time to be determined.
