
Leona Wade Baldwin, age 96, went to be with Jesus, her family, and friends on February 14, 2025.
She was born on December 15, 1928, to Clifford Eugene Wade and Thelma Hill Wade in Blum, Texas.
Leona spent her early childhood in Blum, moving with family to West Texas in 1940.
Leona spent her early adult years working at Goodfellow Air Force Base and transferred to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio where she met her husband, Walter A. Schumann who was a mid-shipman at the Naval Academy. They had two children, Grant and Marceta. Walter passed away in 1985.
In 2011, Leona met and married John A. Baldwin, a retiree of the US Air Force. Both were members of Grace Lutheran Church. John passed away in 2016.
Leona was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Marceta Schumann Sims, grandson, Jahfanie Allen, two sisters, Juanita Wade Huckabee and Mae Dell McBurney, a brother, Charles E. Wade and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a son Grant Schumann and wife Nathalie of Berkeley, California; three sisters, Vallie Marie Carson of Modesto, California, Musette Snapp and husband Ben of Early, and Evelyn Merrifield of Lake Brownwood; a niece, Wanda Jo Ethridge of Gatesville that was raised as a sister, numerous nieces and nephews; two step-daughters, Janet Harlow and husband Archie of Brady and Janice Baldwin of Dallas.
Leona enjoyed entertaining, cooking for her family, friends, and church. She loved being in her yard gardening and taking care of the wild birds. Leona will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for Leona will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Miles Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
