Eva Elizabeth Brown, 89

Eva Elizabeth Brown was born in Coleman County, Texas on March 21, 1935, and left this world on February 17, 2025, at the age of 89 in Katy, Texas.
Eva Elizabeth was born to Gladys and Robert Thwing, and was lovingly called Scooter, Beth, Eva Beth or simply Eva.  Eva was raised in Kinfolk Hollow (aka Kenfolk Holler), attending Mozelle High School, and eventually lived in Coleman, Texas working at Coleman National Bank.  Eva attended Trinity Methodist Church where she met and fell in love with the man she eventually married, Britty (Brit) Nelson Brown on August 10, 1958.  Eva and Brit had three children, Linda J. Scott, Gregory (Greg) N. Brown and Britty (Brit) T. Brown.
Eva was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, and she loved spending time with all of her family playing board games (Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee and others), fishing, watching them play sports, traveling, looking at the planets through a telescope, going for walks and simply sitting and telling stories.  She loved and valued family above all things.
Eva earned degrees in accounting and management from the University of Houston (Clear Lake) and University of Texas (Permian Basin) and volunteered her time teaching adults and preparing them to test for their GED credentials to obtain high school equivalency diplomas.  Eva was passionate about helping adults of all ages and expanded her teaching to men incarcerated in prison.  Eva also volunteered for many years delivering meals to the elderly.
Eva is survived by her daughter Linda J. Scott and her husband Stanley (Stan) Scott, her sons Greg Brown and Brit Brown, and Brit’s wife Patricia (Patty) Brown.  Grandchildren Amber D. Scott, Nathan D. Scott, Alexi M. Brown and Britton Brown, and her great grandson Jack Scott.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents and sister Peggy Boatright with whom she had a strong and loving relationship.
Eva’s heart was broken when her husband, Brit Brown, passed on November 27, 1990. Eva and Brit shared a strong and deep-seated love stronger than death, and Eva’s love for her husband has only grown stronger by their temporary separation.  While Eva loved life and cherished her family and friends, she longed to be with her husband.  Eva’s family gives thanks to God for Eva’s life and for the love she and Brit shares.  As of 3am Monday morning, February 17, 2025, they are together again.
There will be a funeral service for Eva 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman.  Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
Remembrances and condolences can be left for the family on Eva’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Brown Family.
