Emily J. Dykes, 78

Emily Jane Dykes, born on October 28, 1946, in Gonzales, Texas, peacefully departed this world on February 11, 2025, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman, Texas. A cherished member of her community, Emily, leaves behind a rich legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Emily spent many years of her professional life at Texas Instruments, where she made enduring contributions to the company. She later took her talents to Lockheed Martin in Grand Prairie, dedicating numerous years to her work there. Her commitment and proficiency in her career were well-recognized and respected by her colleagues.

Growing up in Dallas, Emily received a solid education that paved the way for her successful career. Her formative experiences in this vibrant city would play a big part in shaping the person she became.

Emily was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt who found immense joy in spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her nurturing spirit and warmth, creating lasting bonds with those around her.

She is survived by her son, Dallas Wottlin, and his wife Dory of Mesquite; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Emily is also survived by her sister, Katie Lynn Clark of Coleman, who will remember her with deep affection.

Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Shutz and Mary Josephine Brooks Jackson; her loving husband, Bill Dykes; two sisters, Patricia Ann Sims and Mary Lois Brown; and one niece, Tamara Durham. The family and friends she leaves behind will carry forward her memory and the love she shared with them throughout her life.

As we remember Emily Jane Dykes, we honor the light she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her, her steadfast values, and her unwavering love for her family. She will be greatly missed but forever celebrated in the hearts of those she touched.

A private interment will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
