The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in a thrilling game to advance to their third consecutive Super Bowl – marking the franchise’s fifth AFC championship since 2019. The back-to-back Super Bowl champions will now set their sights on becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.

Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes threw for 245 yards and a touchdown, running through the Buffalo defense for two more scores, and relied on his defense at key moments to help the Kansas City defeat the Bills.  Mahomes said after the game: “I’m proud of my teammates and how they responded. That was a great football team and I’m just at a loss for words … I think I’ve always said it: It’s not about one guy. It’s not about a couple guys. It’s about the whole entire team. When we needed the defense to get stops, they got stops. Offense, we made plays. That’s why we’re so special; it’s a team effort and it’s a team football game.”

The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles — the winner of the NFC Championship against the Washington Commanders — at Super Bowl LIX, taking place on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
