Della Mae Walden, a cherished matriarch and beloved member of the Coleman community, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in Coleman, Texas. She was born Adella Mae Blair on November 22, 1932, in Concho County, Texas.  Della’s legacy is one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit.
Della’s career included a notable tenure as the Postmaster for the Voss Post Office. However, her greatest pride and joy came from her role as a devoted mother, raising three sons with a compassion that was felt by all who knew her. In her later years, she fondly recalled the moments spent on the family farm, where she and her boys became surrogate mothers to the little animals that needed care, showcasing her nurturing nature.
On December 12, 1950, Della married Aaron Wesley Walden in San Angelo, beginning a partnership founded on love and commitment. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, filled with laughter and unforgettable memories. Della was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Aaron, along with her sister Emma Watson and brothers Gerald Blair and Louie Blair, and one great grandchild.
Della’s vibrant spirit was reflected in her many hobbies and interests. She found joy in playing dominoes, particularly the game “42,” and cherished the bus trips that expanded her horizons as she experienced new places firsthand. Camping in the picturesque mountains of Colorado held a special place in her heart, where she embraced nature’s beauty alongside her family.
Her familial ties remained strong throughout her life. Della is survived by her three sons, Larry Walden and wife, Teresa, of Winters; Robert James Walden of Voss; and Aaron Wesley Walden, Jr. of San Angelo. She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward. Additionally, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, including Joyce Dalton of Coleman and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Sharon Walden of Burleson.
