The Davis-Morris Funeral Home building, 800 Center Avenue, sold yesterday at a public auction on the front steps of the Brown County Courthouse.  The lienholder on the property, Incredible Bank, bought the property with a bid of $585,000.  The original principal amount of the note on the building was $700,000.  A crowd of about fifteen persons gathered for the auction, but no other bids were offered.  Substitute Trustee Richard H. Hester conducted the auction.

The owner of the property was listed as Fulton Mercer Corporation.  The business was known as Heritage Funeral Homes, Davis-Morris Chapel.  Heritage owns several other funeral homes in Texas.  The auction of the building was originally scheduled for December 3, 2024, but was postponed to January 7, 2025.
