Larry Charles Cline of Early, passed away at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, on December 24, 2025, at the age of 75. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the circumstances, Larry stayed strong until the end.
Larry was born in Krum, Texas on October 14, 1949, to Charles & Eugenia (Jean) Cline. As a child, Larry had a love for football and baseball. He was quite the athlete growing up and made his parents proud of the man he grew up to become.
Larry graduated from Brownwood High School in 1968.
Larry met the love of his life, Jeannie Whiteley in 1973. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married March 24, 1973, at the Whiteley Ranch in the presence of close family and friends. Larry and Jeannie Cline were married almost 52 years.
Larry and Jeannie could not wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Together they had two children: Cody Wayne Cline and Courtney Rae Cline. Larry met his best friend in 1973 the day Cody was born. The two were inseparable and enjoyed their days fishing, hunting, riding horses, and working on the farm. In 1982 his daughter Courtney was born and his family was complete. He enjoyed taking her fishing, hunting, and teaching her essential life skills.
Larry was a genuine soul with a heart of gold. He was known as a “Mr. Fix It”, and he never met a stranger. His wittiness and love for his family was contagious along with his big smile. In 1968 he started his career with the Santa Fe Railway/BNSF as a Signal Maintainer. His devotion to his career certainly paid off in 1991 when he was recognized as employee of the year. He retired from the railroad in 2006. He enjoyed spending much of his early retirement at his dock on McCartney Island at Lake Brownwood.
Remaining to cherish Larry’s memory are his wife Jeannie Cline of Early; his son Cody Cline and his wife Stephanie Cline of Brownwood; his daughter Courtney Palmore and her husband Billy Palmore of San Angelo; his grandson Taylor Cline of Brownwood; his granddaughter Haley Halfmann and her husband Baylor Halfmann of Canyon; his granddaughter Morgan Palmore of San Angelo; his great-grandson Case Halfmann of Canyon; his sister Charline Palmer of Pratts, Virginia; his aunt Anita Still of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his nephew Todd Butler and wife Diane Butler of San Antonio; his niece Ragan Gabbert and her husband Ricky Gabbert of Aledo; his nephew Shad Whiteley and his wife Michelle Whiteley of Southlake; his special cousin Joy Murphey of Allen; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Charles Cline; mother Eugenia (Jean) Cline; sister Paula Butler; brother Lonnie Gregg Cline; father-in-law Arvin Whiteley; mother-in-law Kathryn Whiteley; and brother-in-law Dwyan Whiteley.
