RADY – The Brownwood Lions added two more victories to their season tally at the Brady tournament Friday, pushing them into double figures for the season.
First, the Lions began Friday action with a 70-63 morning victory over San Saba.
Brownwood opened a 24-12 lead after one period, but San Saba rallied to grab a 34-33 edge at halftime. The Lions reclaimed the advantage, 50-46, heading into the fourth quarter and kept the Armadillos at arm’s length down the stretch.
The Lions were sparked a 20-point performance from Casey Friebel, along with 16 from Ross Strasner, 15 from Elias Perez, seven from Bennett Windham, six from Weston Wolf, and three points from Braeden Stacks and Durham Brown
San Saba received 17 points from Layke Haynes and 15 each from Danny English and Levi Glover.
Brownwood followed with a 70-51 afternoon triumph over Ballinger.
The Lions led 19-13 after the first period, 40-27 at halftime, and 59-36 through three quarters.
Stasner paced the attack with 20 points trailed by 16 from Friebel, 11 from Perez, eight from Noah Pyle, and five apiece from Brown, Windham and Wolf.
The Lions (11-4) conclude tournament action at 10:30 a.m. Saturday as they tangle with Blanco.
